In its price bracket, No other digital camera systems can compete with what the red one offers.

The RED ONE provides digital images over variety of frame rates and resolutions. Shoot at 4k (nearly four times the resolution of HD 1080), save your raw files and export just about any format from 720p - S35mm. The RED ONE can also shoot at higher frame rates. At 2k (similar frame size to 1080 HD) the RED ONE can shoot at 120 fps (5 times normal motion)

The RED ONE works much like a digital SLR, using photo/cine lenses shooting to a digital sensor. The sensor records progressive RAW images to a sensor. These RAW images are then coded to a format that the RED ONE camera can store and transfer. This codec, Redcode, is how the images are brought into the computer to be edited and outputted. The footage is then loaded thought a proprietary program; Redcine or Red Alert (free to download) and then are available to go into a Final Cut or AVID system.
Although these files are very big, they are all accompanied with a smaller QuickTime file that makes previewing your shots easy and transferable. These small quicktimes can even be used to get a rough edit, so you can quickly assemble a project in the field.
